Big Orange Crayon

China!

Shanghai
The first place that I went was Shanghai. This was for the Infrared, Millimeter Waves and Terahertz (IRMMW-THz) conference, where I gave two talks. I think that part went pretty well. Shanghai is, I think, really similar to New York City in a lot of ways.

The view from my hotel window. Lots of new buildings...

You can definitely see some Soviet influence in some of the buildings, though.

I just liked the contrast here.

This and the next bunch are from the Bund at night. The people that you see are from Capital Normal University in Beijing. They were kind enough to host me in Beijing, as well as walk around with me in Shanghai - you'll see a lot of some of them!

The next two are from a pedestrian shopping street. We just liked the dramatic lighting.
