Today's big issue: fret fret, rar rar, yayayayayayaya
So today my group was supposed to do a presentation in dinosaurs, but after we got all prepared and ready to kick some Advanced Dinosaurs class arse, our presentatoin got delayed until monday. rrr. Normally I like being able to procrastinate, but we were all ready and we would have done fine, so this is just more worry time. Oh well
I got mad stuff in the mail today, including the new Poster Children CD! Woo! I love this band so much it's probably unhealthy. All I can say is that if their tour doesn't stop in Albany, I will be a wreck for months (or buy bus tickets...). I also got my first ever package from Darla, including a Tullycraft singles collection, One Star's cd and a BBPTC mystery set with a really cool cover drawn in crayon. Dig.
I had a lot of work to do today, and I finally finished it all. The essay I wrote for my philospohy class is probably the worst essay i've written in years. Bah.

Today's big issue: grr?
Why is it that when ever I'm just about to go to bed, people start playing Van Halen? I don't get it. I just don't...
Today was... barely existant. I didn't do much beyond go to class and talk online. Oy. Tomorrow, I learn about math and talk about dinosaurs.

Today's big issue: waga
I've noticed that my whole "today's big issue" thing normally isn't that helpful, because frankly nothing big happens most days. Oh well. Today I bought legos, groceries and more cough drops with a koala bear on the package. Then I went back to... school. Blast. Ariel gets the whole week off, too. I guess they really dig Presidents' day there.

Today's big issue: well, that's not very nice of them
Well, you know how I was having so much trouble with that first web hosting place I tried? Well I thought that it was all over, but it turns out now that it's not. They're intent on getting all two hundred dollars that they didn't earn, up to the point of actually threating my dad to sue him for two hundred and fifty thousand dollars for "the time you have wasted." Since when is wasting someone's time sueable for a quarter of a million dollars? I mean, they wasted a lot more of my time than I wasted theirs, since they did pretty much ignore every question I asked them, so I figure I should get at least a couple million dollars out of them. :) No really, I'm not that concerned. They're just frauds, and it sucks that I ever got involved with them, but there are laws.
Anyway, today was pretty nice otherwise. I went over to Ariel's and me and her and Tom watched a movie called A Simple Plan, or something along those lines. We spent about ten minutes afterward talking about how bad it was. Oh well. Then me and Ariel went over to Media Play, but it turned out that they were closed, so I tried to take a picture of a truck but it didn't come out very well since it was dark out by then.
And on Kickbright today Jeffrey had a link to the Internet Anagram Server. I forgot about that thing, but it's so much fun.
Anagrams of Big Orange Crayon:
Irony: a beggar con
Gory! I can be Ringo!
A rice gang born, yo
Briny goo carnage
No ocarina by Greg
Big arena? *Cry!* No go!

Today's big issue: huh
Nothing big happened today. I got up, putzed around, got a ride back home from school, and then pretty much did nothing. I suppose that's not a bad thing. At least I wasn't doing anything that I actively dislike doing. And I did get a call from Joe so that was cool.

Today's big issue: the ninja tires of school
I got a new screen name for instant messenger, one involving ninjas. In celebration of this, I will speak in comic book ninja language. The ninja is displeased with this snowstorm. The ninja does not like being stranded at school. The ninja wants to return home.
The ninja likes the song sent to the ninja by Yars Revenge.
Otherwise, the ninja did nothing today. The ninja is bored. The ninja will now go to bed.

02/17/00
Today's big issue: eh?
So again I'm writing this despite the fact that at the moment I can't upload it. This time it's RPI's fault... the outside connection for the network isn't working. again. Oh well.
Not much happened today... I was bored. I'm not sure when/if I'll get to go home tomorrow because it's supposed to snow a lot. I am SO going to get there somehow though...

02/16/00
Today's big issue: odd.
(This is in the morning on the 17th now... I finally was able to get into my ftp server. Computer problem of the day: I start up my computer, and intead of the normal happy mac, i get the dreaded floppy disk with a flashing question mark. So i put in the OS 9 cd... same thing. "great," I think, "my computer's broken." I unplug my USB hub and right away I get the happy mac and it starts up normally. What the heck?) Well, I guess this proves that I just write this thing for my own good. I don't have any way of uploading this since my server for some reason won't accept the fact that I have administrative access. Phooey.
Anyway, today was kinda fun. I got my new card for my camera and now if I keep it on 640x480 mode, I can fit 396 pictures on it at a time. yay!
Mel called me today! An hour long call all the way from New Mexico. Rad! Hee luckily we get along.

02/15/00
Today's big issue: telephony!
So yeah i finally got the opportunity to make the long-distance call to TT the Bears to see if I could get tickets in advance to the show, the answer being "no". Oh well. I'm not too afraid about not getting in. The weird thing was how I actually got to make the call: not by getting my access code or getting at&t to admit that I really do have a valid credit card number, but by Kevin being so sweet and letting me use his calling card.
In other news, I found out that I'm not the only unhappy indie kid at RPI... Russ from (or, rather, "who is") Yar's Revenge described pretty much my exact situation with the whole not talking to anybody because of the wierd atmosphere here thing. Hrm.. he's a senior and it seems things don't improve.. fuck. Oh well... maybe I'll look into transferring... if only I didn't like my classes.
I just found out that Apple went and made my powerbook no longer the top of the line. The new ones are 500MHz and get 10 hours on a battery charge. Oh well. Good for them.

02/14/00
Today's big issue: If I were a goth kid I would say something like "only the darkness will be my valentine," but I'm not.
Yeah, so today was Valentine's day. Whoop whoop whoop. I guess it's not all that exciting when almost all of your human interation is online or over the telephone. I used to be one of those people who wore all black on valentines day and went on about how stupid it was, now I just don't care. You don't see anyone getting upset about Groundhog's day. Which I completely forgot about this year... did he see his shadow or not?
About telephones, it's really starting to get annoying that I can't make long distance calls from my dorm room. I don't have my access code (I was too lazy to pick it up, so I feel weird going to get it now, but I suppose I will tomorrow) and 1800callatt won't accept my debit card anymore. Huh.
Today was pretty blah. It snowed and then rained and then freezing rained, so everything was crunchy and wet at the same time. I had a total of one hour of class due to the fact that my professor for dinosaurs is heavily involved in the NEAR mission observing the Eros asteroid, so he's out of town this week and class is cancelled. After class, I mailed stuff and put some Jumprope and St. Christopher songs on a tape for Mel since she's never listened to them and we're seeing them in Boston, and then I put some other stuff on it too. It seems I can't make a mix tape without putting Belle and Sebastain and Secret Stars songs on it. Then it was all talking on AIM and trying to force myself to study for the biggish Calculus test on wednesday.

02/13/00
Today's big issue: The Pensive Few Weeks
So I've gotten into full-swing "I can't wait to be in Boston" mode. I'm all planned out which busses I'm going to take and all that... woo!
Today I went back to school as I do every sunday. And the same thing happened: I always end up not so upset about being in school as I was when I wasn't at school. Weird. Anyway, I talked to a bunch of people online and Ariel on the phone and that was pretty much it... I went and wandered aimlessly around the campus because I was bored, but I didn't have my camera so I couldn't take pictures. I ordered the new smartmedia card, so it should be coming soon-ish. It wasn't as much as I was expecting it to be, but more than I wanted to pay still...
Hee... under the influence of Friend Bear and playing around with KeyCaps, I perfected a manner of instant messenger speech that is just as annoying as h4ck3r speak: just hyphenate where-it-would be inappropriate and put the© symbol-wherever you® want. It's fun!

Today's big issue: ...
Today was full of oppsites. It was a wonderful day and a horrible day at the same time. For the good side, I went to Zak's house, we went to toysrus and bought a ton of legos and played with them all day and watched a movie about pirates and an Akira Korisawa (I don't know how to spell that) movie (Roshamon? something like that). I had tons of fun, and so on. Then on the bad side, the smartmedia card for my camera is DEAD and I'm going to have to buy a new one, Ariel was busy all day so me and Zak didn't get to see her at all and Zak has to leave early-ish tomorrow and saw her for like 5 minutes the whole time he was back, and I just got back home now and got the mass mail to all of the people in my physics class about the test we took on thursay and found out that the class average was a 67, so now I'm going over every possible mistake I could have made and wondering if I contributed to it being so low... it's really annoying, too: the person in charge of the curriculum said that the grades would be posted but they're NOT so I just have to try to go to sleep with this hovering uncertainty. I need sleep. Or maybe not even sleep, I think I need an off switch. I know that going to bed and waking up in the morning won't make this any better, I just want to be able to get away from it for 8 hours without being woken up by the noise in my dorm or my own problems or anything. I just need a vacation and it's still the weekend! And there are so many emails and things that I have to respond to but I haven't and I feel like a jerk and I just can't seem to handle things like I used to be able to. hrrr... I'll just keep thinking boston boston boston boston...

02/11/00
Today's big issue: whee!
I'm sort of breaking my tradition of only writing these before I go to sleep. I'm about to go to a play that Ariel is in. I have to be there at 7 and it's 6:30, so I can't write much... Zak's back in town and I'm back home! Yaay! Plus I'm still excited about Boston (see yesterday...)!
I checked today and my computer is 223.4 Megaflops... test yours here. Well, if you have a Mac anyway, if you have a PC, i'm too lazy to find something equivalent.

02/10/00
Today's big issue: BOSTON!!!
Over spring break I'm going to go to Boston! Yayayayayaya! It sucks that matt can't go though... I'm going to go with his friend Mel, who I've never actually met in person. But it'll be fun! Plus there's this really great indie pop show happening there on March 15th: St. Christopher, Jumprope, the Saturday People, Mishima, and the Part-time Losers! Woo! The only ones I own stuff from are St. Christopher and Jumprope, but it sounds so totally great! yay!
Otherwise, today wasn't all that exciting.
Here are some pictures I took either yesterday or today:
I just liked this
This is Troy at night. I like how the lights look like they're attacking.
Can someone explain to me how these two commands are related?

02/09/00
Today's big issue: hee
Me and Eric had a battle on AIM (I'm TheYaklord, he's KriminyPete)
KriminyPete: what happened to the haikus?
TheYaklord: I tired of them.
KriminyPete: ah
KriminyPete: liked the banannas one
TheYaklord: Haikus are boring
with out any sort of point
so no more for me
KriminyPete: I see your reason
They amused me and others
I guess you hate us
TheYaklord: Of course I hate you
you filthy wretched pig whores
I dislike grape jam
KriminyPete: Nick is a mean man,
he called me a pig and whore
why do i love him?
TheYaklord: Because you are dumb
Nick plans to kill you tonight
And then play scrabble
KriminyPete: SCRABBLE! But why Nick?
When the world is filled with hate
Milton Bradley, why?
TheYaklord: it is an excuse
to make people look up smut
as are snowball fights
TheYaklord: but now i must go
i have a math test at nine
and soon i must sleep
KriminyPete: Naughty Knave! Thou Art!
You leave me in such a state!
Just so you can *POOF*
TheYaklord: I will see you soon
you will be torn limb from limb
But now I say *POOF!*
Um, other than that... today I took some pictures, which I will probably put up tomorrow or something, but now I must study math and then sleep.

02/08/00
Today's big issue: ftz. ftz.
So OS9 may have messed up Ariel's mom's laptop. Whoops. It makes her printer go all goofy. The odd thing is that it behaves for me. Oh well. I'll look at it for them again when I'm back for the weekend.
Anyway, today was ok-ish. It was a school day.
I did a new review, which I haven't done at school for a while (I usually do my writing at home since I'm happier there). I don't think it came out very well, but anyway...
That's pretty much all for today.
And.. favorite quote from the lecture at the society of physics students meeting: "Gravity still remains a big problem."

02/07/00
Today's big issue: zzzzeee!
I was actually overly busy today. Which is weird for a monday since I only have two classes, but it happened anyway. I got up later than usual, which was part of it and another part was that I did a bunch of stuff for dinosaurs... I actually read through the book between the end of calculus and the beginning of dinosaurs, then I printed out the pages I had bookmarked about Troodon (a later and supposedly more intelligent dinosaur... disappointing, though - I was hoping for a dinosaur with a big cranium smoking a pipe and wearing a velour robe, but it's just another one of those smallish ostrich-ey ones, just with a slightly larger brain cavity. darn). Then we had the actual meeting of the research group, which only took about half an hour. I feel sort of out of place: I'm the only freshman in the group, plus the two other members, another Nick and Merideth, could probably do the project fine without me (I do intend to do everything I can, though). The thing is that Nick2 is an emac major, so he's got the graphics thing down, plus he's a junior, and Merideth is a dual major in physics and math and she's a sophmore so she's like a smarter/more educated version of me, so you can see where I sort of feel unneccesary.
Anyway, after that I got started on my homeworkish type stuff, and now it's 11:40 and I just finished. Whee.
I did get to talk to Ariel on the phone for a bit. It seems like Mr. Garing (my old physics teacher while I was in highschool and currently Ariel's physics teacher) is just as much of a frighteningly unstable person as when I had him. He got into a spat with a kid in Ariel's class who she didn't like, and then sort of went off on half the class. She wasn't one of the objects of his scorn, but she still said he made her want to cry... which actually wouldn't be that bad of an idea if she did it right. Done theatrically enough it could really.. er.. confuse him for a few seconds. And then the guerillas could attack.

02/06/00
Today's big issue: huh
Zak wanted me to point out that those german hats are called Tyrulean caps. Otherwise, today was pretty bland. I did find out, however, that kevin is so ill that he had to come home from Cornell. send him love.

02/05/00
Today's big issue: whee!
I had fun today! I didn't really do anything too special, but it was nice anyway. I walked over to Ariel's at 10am. I think that's the earliest I've gone to a friend's house in years. Anyway, it was fun. We (what else?) played a bit of Carmageddon and she made an apple pie. It had butter in it, so I just watched, but still. I went home at a little after 4 and just chilled the rest of the day. I finally got around to writing some new reviews, yay! And I did a bit of touching up on the site design (it's still sloppy. sue me for not being html 4.0 compliant :P).
I went to the supermarket at about ten, and while I was there I saw this old guy in the coolest hat ever. It was the kind of green hat with a feather in it that old German guys wear at beer festivals. If I was a bolder and ruder person and not as concerned for my safety I would have tried to buy it from him...

02/04/00
Today's big issue: tomorrow
So yay I'm back in schenectady! No big plans for the weekend, but that's ok. I'm going to go over to Ariel's tomorrow in the morning. I can't remember the last time that I went to a friend's house before noon... this will be interesting.
I'm also really going to write some new reviews tomorrow. I was actually going to write one of the Moshi Moshi comp tonight, but I just went through all 2+ hours of it and took notes and now it's after midnight and I think I'll just wait until tomorrow. But yeah! New reviews soon!
When I was coming back to Schenectady, I noticed this SUV. I would say that it must be a supporter, but I hate Suburbans. :)

02/03/00
Today's big issue: ti. erd.
I haven't slept very well in a few days... so I'm kinda weirdo today...
But I did take this picture. That's in the back of my philosophy class. It took me way too long to figure out...
So, today was uneventful. I should have responded to more emails, but, I dunno I just got into one of those things where I couldn't do it because I'm not all together today... I don't know why.
and Kickbright rules.

02/02/00
Today's big issue: rar!
I don't like having no free time. Today was all work work work and I'm not liking this much. Well maybe today wasn't ALL work work work, but it was mostly that and I didn't have any significant amount of free time. As I'm writing this, I'm getting ready to go to bed and I'm still not done with all of my work. I just have to finish my physics homework before class, but it's the principle of it all...
But yeah, today turned out ok even if it wasn't all that pleasant. I think the presentation for dinosaurs went nicely, even if I did get the really sharp pain in my stomach that I always get when I talk to a large group of people. Our presentation didn't really say much other than that we're going to look up a lot of stuff to present next time, but I think it made sense for what it was. Or at least it made more sense than that last sentence. Can you tell I'm tired? Anyway...
I woke up this morning in amazement. I had The. Weirdest. Dream. Ever. Let me explain. You know how dreams tend to be reflections of what happened during the previous day becuase some part of your brain starts producing noise signals and your rational part tries to reconcile them with recent memory? Well, this dream had nothing to do with anything I had EVER thought about. It was short, but the most confusing thing ever. In it, I... I.. got a letter from Martha Washington about robots that shoot water out of their eyes. That was the extent of what I remember from the dream. Yes, Martha "the wife of the first president" Washington. And it was written and read in that sort of 18th century aristocratic language you hear in documentaries about wives of generals and such with panning/zooming effects on pictures of letters on parchment paper. But about robots. So you can see why I'm a bit confused today.
Oh, and another thing! I have another sworn enemy who doesn't even know it. Just some kid. He pestered me while I was making my dinner and interrogated me on why I don't smoke pot or drink (or in general, "party" as he started the questioning). Kind of sad really, but I still despise him. One of those total extrovert frat boy dicks that I can't stand. Oh well. That's why doors have locks.
And I really do plan to write some new reviews soon. I'm hoping to do a bunch this weekend. I have this whole stack of CDs I just bought sitting next to me...

The older entries are here...
