Big Orange Crayonmusical thingsThe Orange at Valentine's April 8th, 2000 Ok, so I was only at this show for half an hour, but that's all I planned on seeing. It was sponsored by the Edge [lame alternarock station] for their "next big thing" contest, so the Orange, who was the first band on and the only band that I wanted to see, only got half an hour to play. I wasn't really interested in the other bands that were playing and it was Zak's last day back in town, so I wasn't going to stick around for it all. In addition to that, I came late - I thought doors were at 8:30 but when I got there the Orange was already on. Spoot. That meant that I was stuck behind the Inpenetrable Wall of Motionless People and didn't get to jump around at all. I suppose I could have wormed my way though people, but it's not the same when you're going to a show alone, you know? Well anyway, the Orange did a great show as always. I swear, if people across the country aren't singing "Crazy Dinosaur" and "Guarding the Coast of Wyoming" to themselves in a few years, I'm burning the US to the ground and moving to Canada. They're one of those perfect bands that makes intelligent songs that you can jump around to and are just all around as fun as heck. So even though I drove an hour and a half to watch them play a truncated, 25 minute set, I'm glad I went. Yeah, they're that good. Go to more shows and jump around =) They played a new song, too: it's called "Time" (I think that's what it's called if I remember right, anyway) and I liked it bunches. Nice and fast. Kids were jumping around even though it was the first time they heard it and that made me pretty happy. I just wish I was up there with them... *sigh*. I'll have to find out the results of the voting - if they win, they get $5000 dollars to do a video and a spot on the Edgefest music festival that I avoid. They deserve it more than any of the other bands possibly could! After the show, I got back to my car, alone since Ariel had to babysit and Zak had to do schoolwork before going back, and drove home. I stopped in, snagged my computer, and headed over to Zak's. |
