Big Orange Crayonmusical thingsF-Timmi, Funk Shop Loomis, Me and Jeremy and Method of Groove at Valentines! October 29, 1999 This show was so so SO great. And this time I didn't go alone! Woohoo Ariel came with me and now she loves Valentines as much as I do, yay! I think that seeing Me and Jeremy at Valentines is one of the best things that can happen to a person. Plus, all of the other bands were great, too! So if you missed it, i really feel bad for you. This first band was F-Timmi, who played good, fast, fun, punk-ey, poppy music. There was a mosh pit! Yay! I didn't go in, though: I'm not really into extracting boots from my head, but it was fun to watch. The band did a really good show, too. They played their songs really fast and pretty much perfectly (well except the one new song where the singer forgot the words, but that just makes it more fun). There was a lot of talk of getting naked, but no one went through with it. I remember being impressed by their bass player. I'm always impressed with bass players. They all play better than me. Funk Shop Looomis was the next band on and they did a pretty mind blowing set. They play sort of hardcore funk hip hop or something along those lines. It was really really great. I want to see them again. The lead singer-type-guy had a cute little pink mohawk and their bass player kicked ass so hardcore too. I wish I could play as well as him. Everyone in the band played really well, and the horn section (well two guys, one with a trumpet and one with a saxophone) sounded really good. And their songs are damn funky! Yeah! Then, of course, the next band was Me and Jeremy. This was my seventh Me and Jeremy show! Woohoo! They were SO awesome! I was jumping like i have never jumped before! It's amazing how much energy comes out of both the crowd and the band at their shows. Seeing Me and Jeremy at Valentines is the epitome of a great show: small club, great band, lots of energy and crowd participation. And this show seemed particularly good. They seem to have really gotten good at their instruments (not that they weren't before, but they are amazing now). And Randall did that song that although I don't know the title, I know it's for all the ladiez. It's so fun! And for "Josie's House" at the end they had a whole bunch of people come on to the stage to sing along! I didn't go up on stage, but I jumped up and down and sang anyway. I had so much fun! Unfortunately, me and Ariel couldn't stay to watch Method of Groove even though it was their CD release party and I felt so bad about that. But oh well she had to get home or her dad was going to probably eat me whole. It's weird how rare it is for me to actually see the headlining band whenever I go to a show... But I WILL see Method of Groove again someday, I swear this upon my right pinky, i do! So after we left, I missed a turn on the way home.. whoops! But Ariel still got home on time. Well, 15 minutes late but that's still on time, I say. But yeah, that was such a great show and I had so much fun! I want to see all of the bands again and again and again and so on! And maybe next time I'll stay for the whole thing.. it sucks that parents can do stuff like that to you when you're in high school, but what can you do? That was still the most fun i've had in a long time! |
