Method of Groove at the RPI Union
11/12/1999

This turned out to be a really good show. It's always a little weird to go to a show at RPI since no one really ever seems to get into it. It doesn't help that they left the tables and such out and that there were people playing pool and bowling in the background. But Method of Groove managed to pull off a high energy, fun show despite the lack of audience participation and the fact that they had lots of sound problems that made the show start quite a bit late. It must have been excruciating for them since they had to keep apologizing to a whole bunch of people sitting at tables for the show being late since their monitors didn't work, but they didn't really show it at all. I was pretty impressed.

One thing that I haven't really noticed before is that Ashton, MoG's lead singer, has a really good voice. And their bass player is pretty cool and I'm jealous of his six stringed bass (although I have enough trouble with four, so I don't know what I'd do with the extra two...). Actually, they're all pretty good. So there.

So, even though they got started late and were playing to a whole bunch of sitting people, they really pulled off a cool show. I wanted to jump around and stuff but since there were tables and chairs everywhere it just wasn't possible. It sucks since me and ariel decided that if it was just a lot of people sitting around like it always is at RPI shows we would be the two dorks who got out and acted silly anyway and hopefully people would join us, but they didn't even leave an open space like they usually do. Oh well. Now I really want to see them the next time they're at valentine's, since they should be even better in a better venue for jumping around.
