Big Orange Crayonmusical thingsThe Bartlebees "Nobody's Lonesome For Me" 7" Little Teddy Recordings This is silly. The Bartlebees are a indie pop band from Germany and on this 7" they appear to do a cover of a Hank Williams song. Or that's what I figure, at least, since Hank Williams is given the songwriting credit. I think that name sounds familiar. A country singer or something. Anyway, its not something that you would normally expect a German pop band to cover. Or maybe they wrote it, I'm not sure, but its fun regardless. The 7" is worth getting just for the novelty value. It's unspeakably ridiculous and therefore very entertaining. It sounds sort of like the Mike Mayer's character on that Saturday Night Live "Sprockets" sketch singing a sweet, sad song about being unloved. It's precious. I wish I could find more of the songs that they wrote on their own, since I've heard that they're pretty wonderful in their own right, but this is all I could find at the time.
