Bis
Social Dancing
Grand Royal

I remember saying a while back something along the lines of "Bis is what Atari Teenage Riot would sound like if Atari Teenage Riot were a Scottish pop band." I still feel some of that similarity, but both bands have changed a bit since then. Atari Teenage Riot continued doing the stuff that got them popular, but now their anger seems forced and their lyrics are more cliche than ever. Bis has moved foreward and gotten better and did so while still keeping the style that made their fans like them. Who would have thought that out of a pop band and a hardcore band, the hardcore band would grow stale while the pop band progressed? Odd.

If you are one of those people that love to hate Bis, you're going to get sick of this because I am not. In fact, I love Bis. So there. I love the technodiscopunkpop thing that they do and I love the energy that they shoot out. I know that some people can find Manda Rin's screeching a bit grating, but I really don't mind it, in fact, I like it.

Anyway, this album. It has all of the stardard things that Bis fans love, such as high energy shout along songs like "Action and Drama" and "Am I Loud Enough?" but also some new elements like a more laid back Cibo Matto-type groove for "Detour". None of the tracks are throwaways and the music is still vital even though they've put enough albums to get into a rut by now.

Total score: 520 out of 520
