Everyone Asked About You
"Handsome, Beautiful" 7"
Drawing Room No. Two

[On further inpection, I discovered that this review makes no sense. Sorry. -Nick]

"Handsome, Beautiful" is one of those songs. The ones that you don't think much of the first time you listen to them and then the second time you kinda like it and the third time you think it's pretty good and then you find that you've listened to it twenty-seven times in a row and are liking it more and more each time. One of those. I've been kinda fed up with the whole emo genre lately, because most of the bands seem like they don't have any real emotion other than a profound sense of wanting to play loud, sad songs. But Everyone Asked About You is different. They actually make the whole emo thing go beyond what it normally is. Like a girl singing emo. I've never heard it before. It's a simple concept, but I just haven't listened to anything else that had it. I mean some girl bands have the emotional thing down, and they are loud, but they are more plain rock or pop or punk. EAAY actually has shared male/female vocals where the girl usually sings and the guy yells. And they do that loud/soft thing that gives this type of music the potential to be so powerful. You can actually see the loudness changes in the song by looking at the surface of the record. Strong stuff, and it works perfectly. So well, in fact, that they really remind me of Hum. And that's pretty damn good by itself, but these guys are on an indie label, have boy/girl vocals, have all sorts of cool stuff happening in the background and have done a song that is so mind blowingly amazing that they will probably never be fameous. But that doesn't mean that you can't listen to them. Go buy this 7" this instant.
