Big Orange Crayonmusical thingsEric Metronome Lime Green ((tape-tape)) I noticed something weird about myself: I've been doing music reviews for a few months but I've never referred to a band as "the American Radiohead". I was actually considering it for this tape, but then I realized, "Hey! This is fucking better than Radiohead!" Yeah, you heard me. I bought all of Radiohead's albums in a month of obsession that is mandatory for anyone writing music reviews, but Eric Metronome beats them at the whole post-whatever, witty fascinating music thing and does it in a tape only release and even covers a broader scope. Sure, Radiohead did a song with a SimpleText voice, but do they alternate between noise rock and sugary-sweet pop and choir boy chanting as if nothing were wrong? Actually, this really isn't like Radiohead, but it's still better. If I tried to describe the style, we would both go mad because it varies so much from song to song, but think something along the lines of a mix of Built to Spill, the Secret Stars, Radiohead, the Beatles, a touch of Melt Banana and probably anthing else you can think of. Your life seriously sucks until you listen to this tape. And it's only four dollars at Pal Mailorder, so buy it! Now! Total score: 4294 out of 4294 |
