Frech music makes me happy. I have no clue why, especially considering the fact that I don't speak French, but there's just something soothing about songs that are sung in it. Whatever. This album is actually pretty bombastic, so don't get the wrong idea. Actually, Etienne Charry manages to confuse me entirely, so I'm not sure what idea you should get. He's definitely an interesting person. His music is sort of funky and poppy in the way that Beck is, and is definitely noisy a lot of the time, but he's also... cute. Not cute it the "oooh he's dreamy" kind of way, he just seems really sweet. And apparently, his live show involves puppets. Neat.

I think "Rayé du Bottin" is a totally catchy song that any Beck lover will latch onto if he either speaks French or doesn't mind not knowing what's going on. Actually, the whole album is pretty much like that. Ariel translated some of the song titles for me, but beyond that, I don't know what's being said and that doesn't really bother me at all. I just enjoy the sound of it, I guess. Maybe you wil, too.

Total score: 517 out of 517
