Big Orange Crayonmusical thingsFeaze Morning Wood Mud Records I wasn't really sure what I thought about this album. On one hand, it's good in itself, on the other hand it gets irritating sometimes, but on the third hand (if you're so gifted) most of the irritating/juvenile bits can be attributed to the fact that the three girls in the band are just 15. This is a lot better than anything that I could have done when I was 15. I think if nothing else, this album is a good sign of things to come from the three once they get a bit older. Musically, they remind me a lot of a punkier Sarge, but obviously a bit immature (which can't really be considered a fault). There are hints of great things to come from Feaze, for example "Oh Good Lordy It's Raining Alcohol" is an absolute gem of a song that is very obviously influenced by the Champaigne/Urbana music scene (which I love, I was considering going on vacation there just for the shows). My three gripes with the album (which seem rather minor now) are the "I'm a badass" style "Once So Sweet and Innocent", the mostly pointless last track, "Rage", which is just a bassline from a Rage Against the Machine song combined with a bit of chatter and noise, and the "Rickatickatickatickatickatou"s in "Obsessive". But other than that, I'm all about this CD. So yeah, I'd say pick up this album if you like Sarge and don't mind the fact that sometimes 15 year old girls will act like 15 year old girls. More importantly, though, get their next album. Total score: 426 out of 429 |
