Hello I'm A Truck
(Self Titled)
Framed! Records

ÊSporting the best name that I have heard in a while, Hello I'm A Truck caught my attention enough for me to give a listen.Ê The song I heard was "Ultrasonic Cotton Candy" and I bought the album on the strength of that song.Ê The entire album doesn't quite keep up with the quality of that song, but it is pleasant in general.Ê The musical style goes from the quirky, popish, you-really-have-to-listen-to-it-to-know-what-I-mean kinda thing on "Ultrasonic Cotton Candy" and "Airwave Paraguay", my favorite songs on the album to the uninteresting instrumental "Feelin' It" and the icky alt-country of "Girl Layin' With a Headache".Ê It's kinda tough to rate this album as one piece since there seems to have one side where its really cool, interesting and brilliant, and another part that lets it drop.Ê If you don't mind setting your CD player to skip a few tracks, go for it, especially since the good tracks far outnumber the few not-so-good ones.Ê Since its a small label, you shouldn't have to pay more than $10 for it anyway since you can get it directly from them.Ê In my view, its worth it since "Ultrasonic Cotton Candy" and "Airwave Paraguay" are so damn good.Ê Maybe if they do another album, they'll have gotten the sucky stuff out of their collective system.
Ê The band definitely has skillz.Ê "Ultrasonic Cotton Candy" is one of the best songs I've heard this year, and the kickassness of that song and the majority of the album, some lowpoints aside, makes it totally worth buying.
Ê Also... some of the band members actually visited my site, so its all good.Ê
