Kincaid Plays Super Hawaii
Kindercore Records

I've waited for this album for so long. First I waited for it to get released, and then I waited again because it got lost in the mail. But now it's here and I am really really psychotically in love with it. I got a bit worried while I was waiting for it because I heard a lot of talk of it being a "sonic step forward" from their last album, but luckily that just means that it sounds better, not the kind of "sonic step forward" that alienates fans by abandoning what they liked about the band. If you liked Good Citizen of the Month you will also adore this album.

They cover a pretty full range on the disc, with incredibly catchy, hooky songs like "Super Hawaii" and sadder slower songs like "Parachute" (which has the wonderfully meloncholy line "My parachute is broken, oh yeah/ it's wrapped around my neck, oh yeah"), much like their last album. One of the biggest differences between this album and their last is that their harmonies are better. With the last one I eventually came to like the slighly off singing, but now it's not an issue. The songs are simple and beatiful and the same pretty much goes for the lyrics, as well.

Total score: 791 out of 791
