The Maulies
On Holiday With the Maulies 7"
Hub City Records

I guess you could say that this 7" restored my faith in indie pop. It's not like I wasn't liking it anymore, it was just that all this year, I had been switching more towards slower, sadder music. It probably had something to do with college. Anyway, it's summer again and I'm back to indie pop and this record is totally rocking me now. Specifically, "Rude Limey", the first song on it, is ravaging my head like a pack of sugar-crazed kangaroos. That's a good thing, by the way. It's a clever, bouncy song about an initially charming British boy who turns out to be a jerk. The next song is a Ray Davies cover and it gets stuck in your head with relatively the same wase as the first. The instrumental b-side, "Tofu Pi", is not quite so catchy, but I'll deal. It's still pleasant.

If you like indie pop, you don't have any excuse not to get this. So there.

Total score: 419 out of 419
