Big Orange Crayonmusical thingsOOIOO OOIOO Kill Rock Stars This is another one of those noisy Japanese bands that I annoy the people in my car with.Ê The comment has often been made to me that I am the sole market for such music in my state, which I don't think is true, at least not for the WHOLE state, maybe just my city.Ê But anyway, I dig this album.Ê Its not as hard as Melt Banana or as psychotic as the Boredoms, but it is interesting in the way that only Japanoise bands can be.Ê I mean, there really aren't any other genres where bands are able to try absolutely anything out and put it on a record (The several minutes of burping on the Bordoms' Onanie Bomb Meets the Sex Pistols comes to mind).Ê Sure, jazz is free and all that, but jazz musicians are still limited to that: being musicians.Ê This stuff often doesn't qualify under most people's idea of what music is.Ê Consequentially, it is not for everyone.Ê In fact, I would say that most people won't even be able to stand to listen to it.Ê But I don't care about them.Ê I care about me and people like me, which is why I'm going to finally get on to reviewing this particular album. For Japanoise, this is downright musical at spots, but without losing that crazy-ass edge that makes it interesting.Ê You can actually get into these songs on the first listen, unlike some other bands of the type.Ê Which is really weird.Ê Maybe its just me.Ê The noises I hear in it I wouldn't consider to be music if I listened to them on their own, but they come together and make recognizable songs!Ê Neat!Ê The singing is nice and fits in with the album (although it probably could have gotten away as instrumental).Ê The lyrics don't make much sense, but they're really not supposed to.Ê You have to experience this.Ê Give it a listen.Ê If you don't like it the first time you listen, try again.Ê Just keep an open mind and you'll get it (maybe).Ê It's worth it.Ê There is a hidden beauty in this music that really doesn't come in the same way as it does for most pop music.Ê You have to really learn what to listen for and it smacks you in the face.Ê It tears away what you expect from music, and allows you to experience something fresh.Ê This is a genre that most people haven't even heard of let alone listened to, so it will be a new experience.Ê This album is probably perfect to introduce you to the genre: its easy to get into it and its really awarding to do so.Ê If you are one of those "most people" that have never listened to this, leave them.Ê They suck.
