Big Orange Crayonmusical thingsThe Caribbean The Carribean EP Little Voice Recordings This is a great CD for hazy summer days. The Caribbean's music, appropriately enough, has a calm, tropical feel to it, although in an open and sparse kind of way that makes it seem warm and cold at the same time. I'd say it sounds kind of like Tullycraft took a cruise with the Lucksmiths and it was overcast more often than not. Which is to say that it's nasally-vocaled indiepop music, but it remains clever while avoiding falling into any of the cloying traps that you might expect it to. Overall it's a pretty rich and rewarding pop experience. There are often distorted noises going on in the background, which probably indicates that's it's post-something, but I won't hazard a guess. I'd say that any Wolfie fan could easily love the Caribbean, or that anyone else who is an indiepop person in a summery kind of mood would enjoy it. Plus, I read that their full length is going to be coming out on Enderaring Records so good for them. Total score: 477 out of 477 |
