"I made it out of clay" Hanukkah compilation
Little Shirley Beans Records

I bought this CD the moment I found out about it. I mean, its really a wonderful idea considering the fact that there are about a billion Christmas compilation albums around but this is the first Hannukah one I've heard of. The best part is that it's so great that everyone who celebrates Christmas (like me) has to be jealous.

Not only is the whole idea of the album super, every song on the disc is pretty cool. Kisswhistle's remaking of Elvis Costello's "Veronica" into "Verhannukah" was a pretty neat idea that worked well, and Metronome's song is charming and clever, as always. Some of my other favorites are the Rosenberg's "Puff Daddy Isn't Kosher", which comes to the cutely odd conclusion that "Puff Daddy is a Jewish man", and Mesopotamia's "Dreydel Dog" just because it is a really nice indie pop song.

So, even though Hanukkah is over for this year, there's always next year and besides, this is a really really great indie pop compilation regardless of what time of year it is.

Total score: 1320 out of 1320
